Open to the Joy of Excitement
Scripture:
"The Lord has done great things for us, and we are filled with joy."
~ Psalm 126:3
Devotional:
What are you excited about in your life right now? It’s such an empowering question, yet one we rarely pause to consider. Excitement is a gift from God—it sparks creativity, fuels joy, and reminds us to
embrace the present moment. Recently, I’ve been reflecting on this in my own life.
As I’ve leaned into my creativity during this season, I’ve found immense joy in involving my daughters in this journey. They’ve become a part of the adventure, and not only is it fun for me, but it’s exciting to watch them help and engage. This shared experience has been so special, a beautiful reminder that God’s blessings often come through the connections and opportunities He places in our
lives.
Excitement fuels gratitude. It shifts our focus from what’s missing to what’s meaningful, reminding us of God’s faithfulness and the joy of living with purpose. When we open ourselves to the excitement of this season, we allow God to show us new possibilities and deepen our appreciation for the moments that truly matter.
Over the next week, I challenge you to embrace the excitement in your life. Take time to notice the moments that bring you joy and
reflect on how they connect to God’s blessings. Let this practice shift your focus to His goodness and prepare your heart to fully embrace the beautiful opportunities He is unfolding for you in this season.
Reflection:
- What am I excited about in my life right now?
Reflect: What is bringing you joy and anticipation?
- What about this makes me excited?
Reflect: How is this excitement tied to
God’s blessings or His purpose for you?
- How does this excitement make me feel?
Reflect: What emotions arise when you focus on what excites you, and how can you share this joy with others?
Prayer:
Lord, thank You for the gift of excitement and the joy it brings to our lives. Help me to recognize and celebrate the moments that make my heart leap with anticipation. Teach me to appreciate the opportunities You’ve given me,
especially those that allow me to share joy with others. May I live each day open to the blessings You have in store, and may my excitement glorify You. Amen.
Challenge:
Take 10 minutes this week to reflect on what excites you right now. Write it down in a journal, along with why it excites you and how it makes you feel. Share this joy with someone close to you—a friend, family member, or loved one—and encourage them to reflect on their own excitement. Let
this practice help you embrace God’s goodness and stay open to the joy He’s bringing into your life.
