A Taste of God's Presence
Scripture:
“"Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have shown hospitality
to angels without knowing it."
—Hebrews 13:2 (NIV)
Devotional:
Last week, in the middle of a family emergency, we stopped at Hardee’s in Columbus, Mississippi to grab a quick bite before leaving town. It wasn’t the kind of place where you’d expect a spiritual encounter—there was no worship music playing, no Bible verses on the wall—but the moment I walked in, I could feel something in
the atmosphere that said, God is here.
What struck me was the staff. Every single person was responsive and pleasant. There was a woman at the drive-thru window, Sonya, wearing her headset and juggling multiple responsibilities—but she greeted each person with a big smile and a warm, hearty welcome. At the front counter, Ms Bessie met everyone with just as much kindness and genuine joy. The entire team carried an energy
that was both peaceful and inviting.
As I looked around the dining room, I noticed something else—it was full. It felt like a local hangout, the kind of place where people feel at home. And I thought to myself, This isn’t just about good customer service. This is the kind of atmosphere God creates through people who carry His Spirit.
