Growing in Grace in a Shifting Culture
Scripture:
“"Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your
mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will."
~ Romans 12:2
Devotional:
We are living in times of rapid change—cultural shifts, technological advancements, and evolving societal norms. It’s easy to feel overwhelmed or even left behind. But for women of faith, this is not a time to shrink back; it’s a time to grow forward.
The truth is, our mindset determines how we respond to change. A growth mindset sees opportunity where others see opposition. It leans into God’s process of
transformation and trusts that even when the world is shifting, God remains the same.
Paul’s words in Romans 12:2 are more relevant than ever. We are not called to conform, but to be transformed. That transformation begins with the renewing of our minds—choosing to believe that we can grow through challenges, learn from setbacks, and remain grounded in God's Word even when culture shifts.
There have been seasons in my life where I wanted to cling to what was
familiar. I resisted change because it was uncomfortable. But every time I allowed God to renew my thinking, He brought new purpose, new wisdom, and new strength. Growth wasn’t always easy—but it was always worth it.
You may not be able to control the world around you, but you can control how you grow within it. Ask God to stretch your thinking, sharpen your discernment, and strengthen your resolve to stay anchored in Him.
Prayer:
Lord,
in the midst of a shifting culture, help me to have a mind that is continually growing and a heart that stays grounded in You. Renew my thoughts so that I see change as an opportunity, not a threat. Teach me to grow in grace, wisdom, and boldness, trusting that You are preparing me for greater things. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Challenge:
Identify one area in your life where change has felt uncomfortable or uncertain. Write a growth statement about it—something
rooted in faith that declares how you will grow, not shrink, in that area.
