Recently, one of my dear aunts passed away after giving life all that she had to give and trusting God’s timing. She was the kind of woman whose life made you say, “She truly walked with God.” Her name was lovingly known to us as MaBee. She endured two kidney transplants, back surgeries, and countless other medical procedures. Yet through it all, she never complained — she simply
kept going.
She went back to the hospital on August 3rd for complications following her heart procedure, and little did we know she would remain there until her passing on October 6th. In her final days, she whispered to her daughter, “I see my name.” Those words reflected her unwavering faith—she knew she had finished her race and was ready to meet her Savior face-to-face.
Even in the midst of everything she endured, she raised six children and continued to be a pillar of strength for her family. Many times when I would talk to her about life issues I was facing, she would simply say, “Girl, don’t pay that stuff no attention—just keep it moving.” That was her mantra, and that’s exactly what she did until the very end.
Her life reminds us
that faith is not about the absence of challenges but the courage to keep moving forward through them. The Apostle Paul said to run the race with perseverance, and that’s exactly what my aunt MaBee did. She didn’t let pain, disappointment, or fear stop her. She lived her faith out loud and trusted God to carry her through every storm.
So today, let’s honor her example by keeping our eyes on Jesus; the One who gives us the
strength to “keep it moving,” no matter what life brings.
