As we continue our Bible in 52 Weeks journey, this devotional brings together Weeks 8 and 9. Sometimes when we are reading the Word, a passage doesn’t just inform us—it transforms us. A single revelation can shift our entire perspective.
That is what happened as we reflected on the benediction in Week 8.
A benediction is more than a closing
prayer. It is a spoken blessing. It is a declaration of divine favor and protection. It is an intentional release of God’s covering over His people.
In Numbers 6, God did not suggest a blessing—He instructed it.
“Tell Aaron and his sons, ‘This is how you are to bless the Israelites. Say to them:
The Lord bless you and keep you;
the Lord make His face shine on you and be
gracious to you;
the Lord turn His face toward you and give you peace.’”
— Numbers 6:23–26
What a powerful prayer.
To be kept means to be guarded and sustained.
To have His face shine on you means you have His attention and favor.
To have His face turned toward you means intimacy and peace.
Women of Worth, this is not just poetic language. This is promise. This is covering. This is
identity.
Then as we moved into Week 9 in Numbers 14, our perspective deepened even more.
We were reminded that delay does not mean denial.
The wilderness was purposeful for the children of Israel. It discipled them. It trained them. It prepared them to live as promised land people.
It did not take 40 years for God to get the children of Israel out of Egypt. It took 40 years to get Egypt out of the
children of Israel.
That is transformation.
God delayed their arrival—but He did not deny their promise.
Sometimes the blessing covers us.
Sometimes the wilderness shapes us.
Both are part of becoming who God has called us to be.
Women of Worth, you are blessed.
And you are becoming.
You have access to the Promised Land.
Reflection
- Where in your
life have you mistaken delay for denial?
- What might God be developing in you during this season of preparation?
Prayer
Father God,
Thank You for the power of Your spoken blessing over our lives. Thank You that You keep us, shine upon us, and give us peace. When we walk through seasons of delay, help us trust that You are developing us, not denying us. Shape our hearts, renew our minds, and prepare us to walk confidently into every
promise You have for us.
Amen.
