In Genesis 22–46, we encounter a powerful and often uncomfortable truth: faith matures when trust costs us something. Abraham is asked to surrender Isaac; the very promise God gave him. Jacob wrestles with God and walks away changed. Joseph is betrayed by his brothers, forgotten in prison, and yet quietly positioned for purpose.
What connects these stories is not ease or convenience—it is obedience in the
midst of uncertainty. God is shaping hearts through sacrifice, delay, and moments that feel deeply unfair. Even when people act unjustly, God remains intentional and present. Joseph’s life reminds us that God can take what wounds us and use it to prepare us.
As I reread this devotional before sending it, I was comforted by how clearly it aligns with God’s Word and the message shared in church yesterday. Scripture has a way of doing that...of reminding us just how great God is
and how faithfully He works, even when the process feels hard.
This week invites us to loosen our grip and trust God with what matters most. Growth often begins when we stop clinging to outcomes and start surrendering our hearts—believing that God is still working, even here.
Action Moment
Ask God, “What am I holding onto that You’re asking me to trust You with?”
Prayer:
Lord, teach me to trust You
even when obedience feels costly. Help me surrender what I love most, knowing You are faithful with every promise. Amen.
