This week’s reading captures the tension between being chosen and becoming prepared.
David had already been anointed king, yet his journey was anything but immediate. In 1 Samuel 18–31, we see him navigating jealousy, betrayal, waiting, and warfare. Though chosen by God, he endured seasons of testing; fleeing from Saul, hiding in caves, and learning how to trust God in uncertainty.
Then
in 2 Samuel 5–8, we see fulfillment. David is established as king, experiences victory over his enemies, and begins walking in the promise God had spoken over his life.
But here’s the truth:
The crown came after the cave.
Women of Worth, this week reminds us that there is often a gap between anointing and appointment.
David was anointed in private…
But developed in pressure…
And appointed in God’s
timing.
Those in-between seasons are not wasted. They are where character is formed, trust is deepened, and dependence on God is strengthened.
We also see that when David inquired of the Lord, he found direction and victory. His success was not just because he was gifted—it was because he remained connected to God.
Women of Worth, you may be anointed for something you have not yet stepped into. That does not mean it is not coming. It means
God is preparing you.
Prayer
Father God,
Thank You for reminding us that being chosen does not mean immediate arrival. Help us trust You in the in-between seasons. When we feel hidden, overlooked, or delayed, remind us that You are preparing us for what You have already promised.
Develop our character, strengthen our faith, and teach us to seek You in every step. Help us walk confidently in Your
timing, knowing that what You have spoken will come to pass.
In Jesus name,
Amen.
