This week's reading reminds us that faith is not the absence of struggle. It is the decision to keep trusting God in the middle of it.
In Luke 19–21, Jesus enters Jerusalem knowing what lies ahead. He continues to teach, serve, and prepare His followers, even as opposition increases. His focus remains on God's purpose rather than His circumstances.
Then we turn to Psalms 42–47, where we
find some of the most honest expressions of longing, discouragement, hope, and worship in Scripture. The psalmist openly acknowledges feelings of despair, asking, "Why, my soul, are you downcast?" Yet he does not stay there. He continually redirects his heart back to God.
What I love about these Psalms is that they give us permission to be honest with God. They remind us that faith is not pretending everything is fine. Faith is bringing our fears, questions, disappointments,
and tears to the Lord and choosing to trust Him anyway.
One of the recurring themes throughout these chapters is this:
God is our refuge and strength.
Not our circumstances.
Not our resources.
Not other people.
God.
Women of Worth, there will be seasons when your soul feels weary. There will be moments when prayers seem unanswered, and situations seem uncertain. Yet these
Psalms remind us that our hope is not based on what is happening around us but on the God who remains faithful through it all.
The same God who was faithful yesterday is faithful today.
When life feels overwhelming, remember:
God is still on the throne.
God is still your refuge.
God is still your strength.
Prayer
Father God,
Thank You for being our refuge and
strength in every season of life. When our hearts grow weary, remind us to place our hope in You. Help us bring our honest thoughts and emotions before You, knowing that You care deeply for us.
Strengthen our faith, renew our hope, and remind us that You are always present, even in the difficult seasons. Teach us to trust You more each day.
In Jesus' name,
Amen.
